Which one of these scenarios sound better?

I see option 1 as entertainment and option 2 as a message. Both are good in their own right. It depends on what you want your audience to come away with. Do you want them to be highly entertained with no real moral message or do you want a bit of a lesson put in there (without being too preachy)? I think it all depends on what kind of story you want to tell.
