I have an xbox 360,and a wireless router but can i still plug it into the back of the router?

ok so im not sure if u can just plug in the ethernet cable from my xbox to the wirless router because i have a laptop on the router and im wondering if it will still connect because i see no pion in getting a wirless adapter when my xbox is right next to my computer mabey around 8 ft
