How did The Beatles learn songs before fame?

For example, how did Paul McCartney learn ''Twenty Flight Rock'' and Harrison learn ''Raunchy'' when they did not read music sheets? I mean, there was no YouTube tutorials around, so did they learn by ear? And if so, how do you learn ''Twenty Flight Rock'' and ''Raunchy'' by ear? :P
