The Republican senate actually voted down a bill for ending subsidies for oil companies?

Subsidies mean that the government taxes people and then gives that money to others. Tax breaks mean they don't collect that money in the first place. Only a democrat would equate "not taking from someone" with "giving them something". By your logic I am "giving" my coworkers a subsidy by not robbing them in the parking lot every night. Oh, and the democrats control the senate, genius.
